April 22nd – 23rd Weekend Tournament Recap
NOVA Cavs 15U, 16U & 17U complete the Program sweep as Tournament Champions this past weekend in the Zero Gravity MD Madness at Park School
Baltimore, MD / Boys, MD – Seven of the NOVA Cavalier teams were in action this weekend in the DMV area.
11U, 13U-Sullender, 14U, 15U-Lin, 16U and 17U Cavs all participated in the Zero Gravity Maryland Madness in Baltimore, MD. Coach DeSenti’s 11U team played very well and went 2-1 for the weekend, while both the 13U-Sullender and 14U teams finished 1-2. For the high school levels though, the NOVA Cavs came away with their first program sweep of the season, as 15U-Lin, 16U and 17U club all took home the tournament title!!
Coach Gray-Mende’s 17U team dropped their opening game of the tournament to Cecil Slam, but went on a roll and won three straight games to take home their first Championship of the season. The thrilling comeback from the Cavs marked an incredible turnaround in the last minute of the game, as NOVA was down 5 with under two minutes left and stormed their way back in the end. Way to go Cavs!
The 16U Cavs won their second consecutive tournament behind the strong play of Matias Prock (McLean) and Nick Margraf (Lake Braddock). NOVA avenged an earlier loss to Columbia Ravens by topping them in the final by 2pts. 15U-Lin completed the tournament 4-0 and defeated Team ProLook in the final. Both teams are carrying positive momentum heading into a big weekend next week at Pittsburgh!
Coach Roller’s 12U NOVA Cavs team also went 3-0 at Discovery Center in the Flames DMV Challenge in their opening tournament of the season!!
Next weekend, our 15U-Lin, 16U and 17U Cavs teams will participate in the Hoop Group Pittsburgh Jam Fest event, while our 13U-Holcombe Cavs and 15U Malone teams will play locally in the DMV area.
