April 8th – 9th Weekend Tournament Recap
16U Cavs finished as the Champions this past weekend in the Big Time Hoops DC Live at NEW 24
Hyattsville, MD / Fairfax County, VA / Washington DC – Seven of the NOVA Cavalier teams were in action this weekend in the DMV area.
13U-Holcombe, 14U and 15U-Malone Cavs all participated in the BRYC Open Classic in Fairfax, VA. Coach Holcombe’s team fought valiantly all weekend long despite missing key players, while the 14U Cavs went 3-1 for the weekend and lost in the semifinal of the tournament. The best showing for the weekend was the 15U Cavs-Malone team, who went undefeated and finished 4-0 for the tournament, then won the championships on a buzzer-beater three-point shot in the end to complete a 15pts comeback. Way to go Coach Malone’s team!!
15U Cavs – Malone winning the BRYC Open Classic this past weekend at Annandale HS
The 16U and 17U Cavs entered into the Big Time Hoops DC Live event at the NEW 24 in Hyattsville, MD. Coach Gray-Mendes’ team performed admirably, as they finished 2-0 and first place seeding entering into bracket play, before succumbing in the semifinal and falling just short of the title game. Coach Dashti’s 16U team won DC Live behind the strong performances by Matias Prock (McLean) and Daniel Deaver (Marshall), as they snatched their second tournament title in as many week with victory over Phoenix Prep in the Final.
15U Cavs – Lin also went 3-0 at Catholic University in the Flames Regional Warm-up.
Next weekend, all of the teams in the NOVA Cavs organization will be off due to Spring Break and Easter weekend.
