Sunday, April 14th- NOVA Cavs 58 – Alexandria Cardinals 32. NOVA Cavs completed their journey at the BRYC Tar heels Open Classic with a 58-32 win over Cardinals in the Final. Cavaliers handled an athletic and talented team from Alexandria by controlling the pace of the game. Patrick Hesse, Brendan Doyle, Nate Shafer and Nathan Orrick contributed with multiple rebounds, while guard Seamus Maloney and Andrew Dinh dictated the tempo with their efficient play. Cavaliers won their first ever tournament together as a group. They will travel to West Chester, Pennsylvania and play in the Philly Six Coaches vs. Cancer Quaker City Shootout next weekend.
Sunday, April 14th- NOVA Cavs 48 – NOVA Cavs (Knoche) 32. Forwards Brendan Doyle and Nate Shafer combined to grab over 15 boards, and guard Andrew Dinh played a fantastic all-around game as NOVA Cavs defeat their brother club in an interesting semifinal match-up. The win helps Cavs advance into their first tournament final appearance of the year. They will take on the Pool B winner- Cardinals of Alexandria.
Sunday, April 14th- NOVA Cavs 47 – ABGC Bulldawgs 39. An unbelievable shooting display by William Unterkofler propelled the Cavs to clinch their first place finish in pool-play this season. The talented guard from Centreville HS put on a magnificent shooting performance, as he knocked down a total of 8 three-pointers to lead Cavaliers into BRYC Tar heels Open Classic semifinal.
Saturday, April 13th- NOVA Cavs 59 – Basics First 36. Cavaliers won their second game of the pool-play by defeating Basics First. NOVA shot the ball well from the perimeter, as William Unterkofler and Seamus Maloney combined to hit six three-pointers in the game. The Cavs will have the opportunity to win the pool with a win against ABGC tomorrow; winner will claim the first seed in the semifinal pairing.
Saturday, April 13th- NOVA Cavs 52 – Team Hustle 32. The 15U NOVA Cavaliers opened their season by defeating Team Hustle from Maryland in the BRYC Tar heels Open Classic. The Cavs started the game slowly while shaking off the rust; both teams traded baskets with each other until a late first half surge put NOVA ahead right before halftime. In the second half, Cavaliers took control inside the paint and coast rest of the way for their first win of the season. They will take on Basics First in the next game of pool-play.
