July 4-5 Tournament Recap
NOVA Cavs 15U Gray-Mendes Team
Washington DC / Baltimore, MD – Three of the Cavs’ teams were in action this past weekend during the Fourth of July holiday break.
14U and 15U both participated in the Independence Day Classic at Wilson HS this weekend hosted by FAB Phenoms. Coach Frate’s 14U Cavs finished the tournament 1-2, with a solid win over VA Hokies on Saturday afternoon. The 15U Cavs also went 1-2 on the weekend, with tough losses to Emery Elite and Delaware Defenders, then won against FAB Phenoms.
17U Cavaliers-Lin went 2-1 on Sunday at the Beast of Baltimore at Maryland Junior Sports Center. NOVA were led by Tavon Tarpley and Nate Shafer with 17 and 16 points a piece to defeat Gold Dragon (from China) 49-38 in the first game. In the second game, Shafer paced the attack with 20 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Seamus Maloney with 13 points (three 3-pointers) in 58-52 win over Gold Dragon – Johnson (from Germany). In the finale, Cavs dropped a 46-37 decision to Team Phoenix to conclude the tourney.
Seven of the Cavalier teams will compete in either Big Shots DC Duel NCAA Certified or Charm City Blue Chip event this upcoming weekend. Tournament Schedule will be release very soon.
