June 11 – 12th Weekend Tournament Recap
17U Cavs-Sawitzky finished as the Runner-Up this past weekend in the Maryland Invitational Tournament (MIT) at Gwynn Park HS
PG County, MD / Ashland, VA / Woodbridge, VA – Seven of the NOVA Cavalier teams were in action this weekend in the Maryland and Virginia area.
15U-Dashti, 16U and 17U-Sawitzky all participated in Maryland Invitational Tournament (MIT) in PG County, MD. All three teams had a strong weekend, as they accumulated combined record of 8-4 as a program. Both the 16U and 17U-Sawitzky finished first and undefeated in pool-play, while the 15U-Dashti’s team finished 2nd place and advanced into bracket-play. Coach Sawitzky’s team made a big run on Sunday, as they won two straights in the quarterfinal against MD Elite and VA All-Stars (Roanoke) before falling to Team Choo in the final.
14U, 15U-Frate and 17U-Corish also went down to Randolph Macon College to participate in the Battle at the Brock. NOVA Cavs represented the program well all weekend long, as all three teams had winning record in the round-robin event. 17U-Corish defeated EBA All-Stars, Louisa Pride and PWC Gators, while the 14U team beat Stafford Celtics, Team Richmond (Garner Road) and Powhatan Chiefs. Coach Sullender’s 12U team also competed this weekend in the Big Times Hoops I-95 Classic and finished 1-2 in the tournament.
Next weekend, most of the teams in the NOVA Cavs organization will be off with the exception three team (13U, 16U and 17U-Sawitzky).
