May 21 – 22nd Weekend Tournament Recap
17U Cavs-Sawitzky winning Tournament Championship this past weekend in Rock the Rim at Philadelphia University
Philadelphia, PA / Loudoun, VA / Hampton, VA – Nine of the NOVA Cavalier teams were in action this weekend in the Mid-Atlantic region.
14U, 15U-Dashti, 16U and 17U Cavs all participated in Rock the Rim event at Philadelphia University. All four teams had a strong weekend in Philly, as they accumulated combined record of 12-3 as a program. Both the 14U and 15U finished runner-up in the tournament, while the 16U lost in the semifinal despite a hard-fought effort. Coach Sawitzky’s 17U wrapped up the weekend with a strong 4-0 performance in the tournament, as they claim the title for NOVA in Rock the Rim tournament.
The younger Cavaliers all played in the LIT at Loudoun County this weekend. Both the 10U and 13U team split the weekend with a 2-2 record, while the 12U and 11U each finished with 1-3 and 1-2 record respectively. Meanwhile, Coach Corish’s 17U team went down to Hoop Group Southern Jam Fest at Hampton and battled well despite the injuries.
Next weekend, most of the teams in the NOVA Cavs organization will be off with the exception of 15U-Frate team. All the NVOA Cavs will resume their season in the 10th annual Battle of NOVA Invitational in two weeks.
