NOVA Takes Down Dynasty

Sunday October 14th NOVA Cavs 43 – Team New Dynasty (Silver Spring, MD) 37. The 14U NOVA Cavs returned in the fall by participating in the Potomac Valley Big Shots League. With a 1-3 record heading into Sunday’s contest against Team New Dynasty, Cavaliers earned a much needed come-from-behind victory.
NOVA was down 21-18 at halftime and 29-20 after first four minutes of play in the second half, but stormed back in the game with terrific defensive efforts. Nate Shafer and Brendan Doyle combined for over 10 blocks and 15 rebounds in the contest, while Andrew Dinh and Seamus Maloney each came up with timely steals late in the game.
Cavs were sparked by back to back baskets by William Unterkofler down the stretch, as NOVA took over the lead with his timely field goals and then finished off Team Dynasty with a couple key free throws in the end. Cavaliers improve to 2-3 in the PV Fall Big Shots League. They will take on Marlboro Select next Sunday with a chance to get to .500 in the fall season. Game time will be 11:10am at Suitland HS.
