Chase Barrand Wins 3pt Contest at Webb Team Camp

16U-LIN and 17U Summer Tune-up at Stevenson University

Inner Harbor Challenge RecapStevensons, MD – Both the 16U-Lin and 17U NOVA Cavaliers visited Stevenson University to play in the Coaches Choice USA Inner Harbor Challenge tournament at Owings Mill, Maryland this past weekend.  Each team finished with a 2-0 record as they head into their final month of the season in preparation for AAU Nationals in three weeks.16U-Lin Cavs defeated MD Tigers 59-23 and Westside Bulls (TX) 80-24 on Saturday, while the 17U Cavs beat Liberty Elite 48-27 and Columbia Ravens (Beckett) 66-30 in actions on Sunday.  16U-Lin Cavs improves to 20-8 and 17U Cavs moves on to 18-12 for the season.Both teams will play in a one-day event at TNT 4th of July Classic in two weeks host by Potomac […]

16U-Lin Visits Big Apple for Rumble in the Bronx

Rumble in the Bronx RecapManhattan, NY – NOVA Cavaliers (Lin) traveled up North and visited New York City for the famous Rumble in the Bronx event this past weekend.  Despite the 1-2 record, the Cavs enjoyed the unforgettable experience of playing in the Basketball Capital City of the World and played competitively throughout the entire tournament.Playing in downtown Manhattan at Baruch College, Cavaliers struggled in the first game and lost 57-29 to Jersey City Boys Club in the opening game of pool-play.  After a rough start to the tournament, NOVA competed furiously in the second game and lost to the once nationally ranked The City Basketball 56-35.  In the night cap of the triple-header, the Cavs battled through adversity to complete a […]

13U Road Trip to Randolph Macon College in Battle at the Brock

Battle at the Brock RecapAshland, VA – 13U NOVA Cavaliers headed down I-95 South this past Saturday for the Battle at the Brock tournament at Randolph Macon College.  The team had a strong showing and finished 2-1 in the one-day bump event.The Cavs dropped an early game to River City Reign; a talented and highly recognized team from Richmond.  In the second game, Cavaliers avenged from the earlier loss and defeated Spotsylvania Eagles for their first win of the tournament.  In the tournament finale, NOVA put on a show and soundly put away Spotsy Wildcats with a 35 points blow out victory.Coach Holcombe’s team will host a team car wash fundraiser event this upcoming Saturday at the McLean Sunoco gas […]

17U Earns NOVA Supremacy

Battle of NOVA Invitational RecapReston, VA – NOVA Cavaliers (Gray-Mendes) defended home turf and won their first Tournament Championship of the year at Battle of NOVA Invitational this past weekend.Cavaliers came back from an 8 points halftime deficit in the tournament final and took down Bedlam 16U, who won Big Shots Baltimore earlier this season and is considered by many one of the best 10th grade teams in Virginia.  Nate Thatcher (Falls Church HS) averaged a team-high 17.3 ppg in the tournament and led NOVA to a much-deserved Championship.The Cavs earned a pair of hard-fought victories in pool-play with wins over Fairfax Bulldogs and Loudoun Triple Threat.  Besides Thatcher’s fabulous performance, NOVA were also led by Jack Ferguson (McLean HS) […]

16U-Lin Takes Home Battle of NOVA Bragging Rights

Battle of NOVA Invitational RecapReston, VA – NOVA Cavaliers (Lin) successfully defended their title and won Battle of NOVA Invitational tournament for the second consecutive year; it is the team’s third Tournament Championships of the 2014 season.The journey was not an easy one though, as the Cavs defeated their nemesis NOVA GameChangers with a go-ahead shot at the buzzer to avenge an earlier loss back in May.  Danny Krug’s clutch shot beat the horn as Cavaliers stormed the court  to take home the bragging rights to NOVA.Cavs breezed through the pool-play with a 50-24 win over Arlington Green Wave and 53-25 victory over NOVA 94 Feet.  NOVA welcome back the return of Avi Silberman, who had 10 and 7 points […]
