They had to be ready to play because they faced intense full-court pressure from the opening tip amid a frantic pace. Behind a balanced scoring attack, the 14U Cavaliers complete their first season together with consecutive victories on Sunday. NOVA were down 18-10 midway through the half, when Alex Beckett sparked the team with some timely baskets to begin a 9-0 run. Cavs used the momentum swing to snatch a 29-24 lead at the half. The 14U NOVA Cavs returned in the fall by participating in the Potomac Valley Big Shots League. With a 1-3 record heading into Sunday’s contest against Team New Dynasty, Cavaliers earned a much needed come-from-behind victory.NOVA was down 21-18 at halftime and 29-20 after first four minutes of play in the second half, but stormed back in the game with terrific defensive efforts. NOVA Takes Home Classic Bronze at AAU DIII Nationals in Hampton

Hampton, VA (Boo Williams Sportsplex) July 28 – 31stNOVA Cavs 56 – DC Stars 49.  The 15U NOVA Cavaliers (Dixon) finished their last tournament of the season with a special achievement. Despite losing their first two games in the AAU DIII National Championship Tournament, the Cavs made a monster run in the Classic Bracket before bowing out in the semifinal to the eventual Champion- Seven Cities BWSL 82-75 in overtime. Led by Nate Thatcher (Falls Church HS, Class of 2015), Sam Freund (Marshall HS), and Joey Powell (Robinson HS), NOVA went 4-1 in their last five games during the last two days of the tournament to seize the Third Place finish. The 10U NOVA Cavaliers (Weeren) completed their last tournament of the season by winning the first annual NOVA Cavs Summer Breeze at Loudoun Valley HS. Cavalier’s road to the Final was not an easy path, as they finished 2-0 in pool play with hard-earned victories over Catoctin Basketball Club (CBC) and Gainesville Elite (Silver).
